MISSION STATEMENT

“To eliminate the paradox of poverty in the midst of plenty in the counties of Barber, Bullock, Coosa, Crenshaw, Elmore, Lee, Lowndes, Macon, Montgomery, Pike, Russell and Tallapoosa, and to join with other areas of Alabama & the nation in a concerted effort to eliminate poverty by opening to everyone the opportunity for education & training, the opportunity to work and the opportunity to live in decency and integrity”

HISTORY

South East Alabama Self-Help Association, Inc.(SEASHA Inc.) was created in 1967 to combat the evils of poverty existing in 12 poor rural counties of Southeast Alabama. SEASHA's mission is to provide affordable housing through new construction of single-family homes and multi-family apartment complexes as well as financial support for local business with the assistance of HUD, USDA, and Alabama Housing Finance Authority, Ford Foundation, Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta, Alabama Multi-Family Loan Consortium and others with programs like PRAC, RAD, LIHTC, HOME program, Multifamily Subsidized Housing program and community development grants.
